WE ARE two classes.
WE ARE two classrooms between which the wall is partially opened.
WE ARE two certified teachers with different strengths.
We Are A TEAM!
We work together to use our strengths to benefit our students. Every day during our literacy time, students are divided into small collaborative groups in which they get to explore one of 12 centers:

While the students are working collaboratively and exploring in theses centers, Mrs. Riccard is teaching guided reading groups, and Ms. Spinks is teaching guided writing groups.
For math we work together to create mini lessons to teach new concepts. During this time one of us will play the part of a confused student to model asking questions, and making mistakes. Our students get a LOT of enjoyment out of correcting their teachers. We then divide into smaller groups. Mrs. Riccard gives students the opportunity to practice the skills while offering extension or reteaching as needed. Ms. Spinks gives students the opportunity to apply the skills through problem solving.
Mrs. Riccard plans lots of Social Studies activities and experiences which are integrated throughout language arts and math. Ms. Spinks does the same with Science.
We collaborate with the teachers who provide extra support for our students through EIP, ELL, and Gifted services. Since we are working in small groups most of the day, we are able to make sure students receiving this extra support are not missing our classroom activities.
