We had an AMAZING time at the pond today. The students were on their absolute best behavior. Everyone did a great job digging in the mud, scooping in the water and finding all sorts of pond life. We had three kiddos so intent on catching a critter that they ended up taking an unintentional plunge in the pond. Everyone had the pleasure of hearing Ms. Spinks scream when a snake slithered by. We cannot say enough thanks for all the chaperones who accompanied us. You all were troopers and helped make this trip one the students will never forget. Pictures to be posted soon.

A message from administration:
All staff and students are encouraged to wear a cape in support of the staff and patients at Children’s Health Care of Atlanta
The annual tradition of Cape Day is back on Friday, Oct. 20th. While some superheroes battle scary villains, at Children’s, our superheroes fight something much scarier—illnesses and injuries that many of us could never imagine. But when they wear a cape, nothing is impossible. Please join us as we celebrate all of our superhero patients by wearing a cape on Cape Day.
This is not a fundraiser. Students and staff do not need to donate money to wear a cape.
Important reminder: This event is for CAPES only, no masks or costumes.
Our next STEAM day is Tuesday, October 31. Please click HERE to go to the sign-up genius for ways you can help make this day extra special.

Tomorrow we will be going to the media center to check out books.
A note concerning picture re-takes:
Parents of students who pre-ordered school pictures,
We are reaching out to you regarding your child's pre-ordered school pictures. We realized after delivering the pictures to the school that the lab had printed most of the photos too dark or the color is off. Since it was a lab error, they are reprinting the entire pre-order. If you ordered pictures, we will be delivering those to you right after Fall Break. Three important items to take note of:
1. You can view the correct exposure of your child by visiting our website, choose reorder, enter your email and your child's specific code. This will allow you to view the correct picture.
2. Retakes are tomorrow, Tuesday September 19th. Retakes are for children who were absent on picture day, enrolled after picture day, or to retake a picture due to a pose or expression issue. If your pictures are too dark or the color is off, those will be corrected with the reprint and it is NOT necessary to have them retaken.
3. If you did not originally purchase pictures, you can view your child's picture on our website using the individual code that was sent home and purchase anytime.
Thank you for your patience and we appreciate your business,

I hope everyone was safe and without any real damage during our visit from Irma. As of now, we are still a go for our field trip tomorrow. As of Friday, we still have a large number of students who have not returned their permission slip. Please, please, please make sure your child has a permission slip. Without one, your child will be staying at Cheatham Hill in another first grade class. If you are unsure, or can't find the slip, please use the one below. If your child is bringing their own lunch, please put it in disposable containers. We will be wearing our class t-shirts. We will pass them out in the morning. Our shirts are hot pink (Riccard) and brown (Spinks) We will be doing quite a bit of walking so make sure to wear comfy shoes.

Thank you, thank you to everyone who came for Open House. We had a packed house and loved meeting and talking with each of you. If you had to miss, we understand. The packet of information that was presented will be sent home today.
We have had two great weeks with your children. We've been reading lots of books by Julia Cook. These books are helping us learn to be a good team player and make good choices.
We are so excited that our two classes are currently in first and second place for Boosterthon Pledges. Way to go. Thank you for raising money to help our school buy more technology.
