I have lived on the same street in the Cheatham Hill Community since I was in the fourth grade. After graduating from North Cobb High School, I went to West Georgia College where I received a degree in Mass Communications. One Summer while working at a daycare center, I realized that I had failed to follow my heart. I then enrolled at Kennesaw State University to get a degree in teaching; after five years of teaching I returned to Kennesaw and got a master degree. I also went to Lincoln Memorial University where I earned an education specialist degree. Most recently I received endorsements to teach ESOL and Gifted students. I started teaching in 1999. I taught second grade for 7 years, and Kindergarten for 1 year. I was so inspired by all of the fun and excitement my son was having at Cheatham Hill that I decided to try it myself. I have been teaching first grade at CHES since 2007.
I have two sons who were both Cheatham Hill Champions. My oldest, Dawson, was a proud member of the Hillgrove class of 2018, and now works at Cheatham Hill in the cafeteria and ASP. He wants to be an elementary art teacher. My youngest, Allen, just graduated as a part of the Hillgrove class of 2020. He is learning how to be a tattoo artist and has started his own business cooking meals for people. I enjoy volunteering at my church, and crafting When I do have some down time, my favorite thing to do is READ.
