Enchanted Forest Museum of Animal Research Exhibits
Presenting the Snow Leopard. It is a wild cat with spots. It lives in the rocky mountain cliffs of Central Asia. Its body blends in with snow and rocks. It eats Sheep, Goats, Marmots, and Ibex. It uses claw marks and scents to mark its ranges. It can leap up to 30 feet. That is the Snow Leopard.
Presenting the Copperhead. It is a reptile with tannish scales. It lives in woods and rocky areas. It eats frogs and lizards. It swallows its prey whole. It shakes its tale like rattlesnakes. That is the Copperhead.
Presenting the Tang Fish. It is a brightly colored fish with sharp teeth. It lives in the ocean. It eats algae with its sharp teeth. Tang fish use spines in their tail for defense.
That is the Tang Fish Presenting the Green Tree Python. It is a reptile. It is the longest snake in the world.
It lives in warm areas. It eats rats. It is a good swimmer. As it grows, it changes from bright red and yellow to green. That is the Green Tree Python Presenting the Quetzal. It is a bird with colorful feathers and beautiful trains. It is 3 feet tall. Their train is 1 meter long. It can lay 2 or 3 eggs at a time. It lives up to 25 years. It lives in Mexico and humid tropical forests.
It eats fruit, lizards, insects, plants, and animals. Males have trains after age 3. That is the Quetzal. Presenting the Wolf. It is a mammal with gray, brown, and black fur. It lives in the forests and mountains. It eats deer, moose, elk and other animals. A wolf’s sense of smell is 100 times better than a human’s.
That is the Wolf. Presenting the Mako Shark. It is a fish with black eyes, and dorsal and pectoral fins. It lives in the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. It eats Tuna, Mackerel and Swordfish. The two kinds of Mako Sharks are short fin and long fin. That is the Mako Shark.

Presenting the Red Panda. It is a mammal with red fur and a long tail. It lives in the cool wet forests of Asia. It eats mostly bamboo. It also eats fruit, rodents, acorns, eggs, and birds. It weighs 12 to 10 pounds.
It is at risk of going extinct because trees are being cut down for farm land. That is the Red Panda. Presenting the Chipmunk. It is a mammal with brown stripes on its back and face. It lives in the forest. Its main food is berries, and slugs, but city chipmunks eats pizza from garbage cans. Chipmunks stretch their cheeks three times their head size. That is the Chipmunk.
Presenting the Dolphin. It is a sea mammal with two flippers. It lives in salt water. It eats fish, squid and shrimp. It has a blowhole.
Dolphins can jump 16 feet out of the water. That is the Dolphin. Presenting the Alligator. It is a large reptile. It can weigh 1,000 pounds. It has short legs and strong tails. Its big mouth is filled with sharp pointy teeth. It lives in freshwater lakes, rivers and wetlands of the United States and China. It eats fish, birds and snakes. It eats once a week. Alligators can go two years without eating. That is the Alligator.
Presenting the Arctic Fox. It is a mammal with fur. It lives in a den. It eats fish and birds. Did you know Arctic fox fur is white in winter and brown in the summer? That is the Arctic Fox.
Presenting the Manatee. It is a mammal with gray skin, and covered with algae and barnacles. It lives in waters near the equator and bays. It eats water plants and grasses.
Did you know that manatees are related to elephants? That is the Manatee. Presenting the Seal. It is a mammal with 4 flippers. It lives in oceans. It eats fish, krill and penguins. Some seals can hold their breath for 2 whole hours. Female seals have their babies on land. That is the Seal.

Presenting the Narwhal. It is a a mammal with flippers, a tail and a blowhole. It lives in the Arctic Ocean. It eats fish, shrimp and squid. Narwhals are also called Narwhales. Its tusk can grow 10 feet long. That is the Narwhal.
Presenting the Cardinal. It is a song bird with red feathers. It lives in North America. It eats seeds, fruits, buds, and insects. Cardinals make more than 25 sounds. Both male and female Cardinals sing. That is the Cardinal.
Presenting the Dodo Bird. It is a large bird with a toucan’s curved beak. It lives in Mauritius. It eats nuts and shellfish. Some scientists believe that Dodo Birds are related to Pigeons. That is the Dodo Bird
Presenting the Flamingo. It is a bird with pink feathers and long, white legs. It lives near lakes and rivers. It eats shrimp, clams, plants and animals. Flamingos have few predators. They also suck up mud in their bills to find bits of tasty food. That is the Flamingo.
Presenting the Axolotls. It is an amphibian with feathery gills. It lives in two lakes of Mexico. It eats worms, insects, and small fish. Axolotls often look like they are smiling. It can regrow body parts. That is the Axolotls.
Presenting the Cougar. It is a mammal with short thick fur. Its fur is tan to dark brown.
It lives in North America, Central America, and South America. It eats deer, elk, and rabbits. A cougar’s cry sounds like a person’s scream. That is the Cougar. Presenting the Meerkat. It is a mammal with striped fur. Black fur surrounds their eyes. Most are 1 foot tall. Its tail is long and thin. It lives in deserts in Africa. Meerkats live in colonies of about 30. The colony makes its home in a burrow with many tunnels. It eats insects, mice, lizards, and snakes. It sometimes eats plants. It hunts during the day. Females have 2 to 4 pups each litter. All the members of the colony help take care of the pups. Pups are adults at 6 months.
It can live 12 to 14 years. Meerkats stand on their back legs to spot things far away. One stands guard while others hunt. They form mobs to scare away predators. That is the Meerkat. |
